Our company has been working in the area of synthetic sports surface maintenance for over eight years. You may have known or heard of us as Bowling Green Supplies. That name still exists for the bowling green accessory items we sell.
The integrated chemical maintenance system we use was specifically designed for use on outdoor synthetic sports surfaces. Our primary focus until 2022 has been on bowling green surfaces both in terms of supplying and applying chemicals that clean, treat and manage dirt, grime, organic growth outbreaks and stains on synthetic bowling surfaces.
We purchased the Intellectual Property to the maintenance chemical system in 2021 (which has been used in Australia and NZ for over 20 years under two different brands) and have now expanded our capability to provide maintenance chemicals, and/or services across Australia and New Zealand. Where we do not have a service provider we can supply the chemicals and provide advice on achieving the best result.
The application and uses of the chemical system are expanding and have been used on other synthetic outdoor sports surfaces, such as tennis courts. Due to the possible confusion arising from other companies branding chemicals with similar names, in 2022 we rebranded ourselves Synthetic Sports Surface Solutions to encompass the breadth of uses for this tried and tested maintenance system.
Synthetic Sports Surface Solutions products known as SynSport are the original formula rebranded, but the chemical composition has not changed. It has been tried and tested and proven to be highly effective in keeping outdoor synthetic sports surfaces in optimum condition.
Our products, previously branded Bowling Green Supplies (BGS), form part of an integrated maintenance system for outdoor synthetic sporting surfaces. They are certified and approved for use on all Greengauge woven surfaces, who have used these chemicals for many years.

Our chemicals have been used on various outdoor synthetic surfaces with no unintended outcomes or results to date (see About Us). We have many satisfied clients from those who have maintained their surface since installation, through to those where maintenance regimes were not followed and extensive organic outbreaks such as mould and algae had caused significant concern to the players and the aesthetic of the surface. Eltham Bowling Club in Victoria experienced widespread mould and algae across their outdoor synthetic bowling green. They agreed to two initial maintenance sprays of protector to see what difference it could make. Mould takes time to build up so it takes some time to remediate. Four maintenance sprays in the first 12 months is recommended to bring the surface back to its best possible condition.
However, these before and after photos are after just two maintenance sprays! Two more are to be conducted to further fade the mould staining. Eltham and their patrons are extremely happy with the results to date saying there has already been a huge improvement.
This green in Murwillumbah was experiencing a noticeable mould problem, so we conducted a three-step first clean that involved three chemicals and a water extraction.
The second photo shows the green after the one-time, three-step remedial treatment (which includes a spray of Protector). The photo was taken following the second application of Protector three months after the first.
This site has continued with a quarterly regime of spraying Protector and has improved significantly more.
